AWS QC-7 National Welder Certification:
The AWS Certified Welder program is a performance based program with no prerequisite certifications required. FCAVC has been accredited by the American Welding Society under QC-4 to perform Qualifications of Welders in accordance with QC-7 since 2010.
The AWS Certified Welder program was established to allow individual welders an opportunity to perform a welding skill test at an Accredited Test Facility and after acceptable completion, placed on the national registry with the American Welding Society.
Your final cerification provides " transferrable" credentials that you may take with you wherever you go.
To begin the process for welder certification, you should:
1. Contact FCAVC and obtain and read a copy of the standard AWS QC-7 an applicable supplements that include fit-up, assembly, and positioning.
2. Decide which welding test you would like to perform, since we offer many procedures already establish for GMAW and SMAW on plate.
3. Schedule a Test Date with the certification lab.
4. You will receive your qualification card and supply of certification maintenance forms from AWS Certification Dept. in four - six weeks. You must submitt your certification maintenance forms every six months along with a maintenance fee for your certification to remain vaild. To obtain these forms and fee amounts, you can visit the AWS website. www.aws.org
The Purpose of this standard for the AWS Welder is:
1. To determine the ability of welders to deposit sound welds in accordance with the standardized requirements.
2. To imposs sufficent controls on the documentation and maintenance of certification to allow transfer between employers without requalification, where allowed by standard or contract document.
