The
Industrial Mechanics program located at the Four County Area
Vocational Cooperative training facility on 221 Angling Road
in Kendallville is designed to teach basic industrial maintenance
skills to junior and senior high school students from Noble,
Steuben, DeKalb, and LaGrange counties.
All students are trained and tested in all health and safety
programs required by local industry and IOSHA. All students
are exposed to hand and power tools, arc and torch welding,
hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electricity, motors, motor controls,
programmable controllers, and basic robotics. Seniors are
trained in basic CNC machine controls. Each student is required
to build a machine from salvaged metal. Each machine must
use a variety of methods to move specified items from place
to place. This is a very good program for students interested
in the manufacturing industry.
Work ethics, teamwork, and attendance are stressed daily.
To an employer, these skills are as important as all other
skills combined.
We encourage all students to further their education either
on their own or through an employer. Students are able to
earn up to nine hour of dual credit through IVY Tech State College during their
high school training period.
Our goal is to prepare students to be able to enter college
or the work force already armed with the basic knowledge and
groundwork needed to become outstanding employees.
